INaaS & BPaaS

Information as a Service (INaaS)

In the digital age, companies usually hold large data sets from SaaS software such as sales information from CRM systems and Web traffic data from Analytic software. Successful organisations try to turn this data into information that they can use to get a sence of what is happening within their business or institution and to predict to help them make decisions in the future.

This is where INaaS comes in, it can quickly turn this data into information that can be delivered to users within the organisation in real time. six examples of how INaaS could be used are:

  1. Tax Information
  2. Cataloging Services
  3. Curriculum Information
  4. Public Transport Information
  5. Regulatory Information
  6. Medical Information

“Knowledge is of two kinds. We know a subject ourselves, or we know where we can find information on it.”

― Samuel Johnson

Business Process as a Service (INaaS)

The last level of abstraction in cloud computing is Business Process as a Service, this is the service that takes the information generated from INaaS (which in turn was taken from data generated by SaaS software) and using it to perform business processes. The following are 10 examples of how BPaaS can be used be an organisation:

  1. Taxation & Tax Planning
  2. Human Resources
  3. Payroll Functioning
  4. Exam & Testing Services
  5. Home Security
  6. Training
  7. Auditing
  8. Health Monitoring
  9. Financial Planning & Budgeting
  10. Regulatory Competence

An example SaaS / INaaS / BPaaS pyramid works is a telesales company, say the employee's are using a SaaS CRM to log sales, each sale is stored in a database as a piece of data which can then be turned into information such as revenue and sales per employee. An API from the Human Resources can be used to show the wages of the employees and the profit per employee can be calculated. At the end of the year the company will need to pay taxes on profit made, this information could be made to perform the business process of compiling a tax return and even making the payment to HMRC.
